Rain offered starring role in Enter the Dragon remake

South Korean pop singer/actor Rain has been offered the leading role in Warner Brothers' remake of Bruce Lee's 1973 martial arts classic Enter the Dragon. Warner Brothers' offer to Rain was confirmed by J Tune Entertainment, Rain's agency, on Thursday August 6. However, J Tune Entertainment also stated that Rain has not made a final decision and refused to discuss any details. Rain, who stars in the Wachowski Brothers' Ninja Assassin, scheduled for release this November, is currently preparing for his next Asian concert tour later this year. Warner Brothers' remake of Enter the Dragon will be written and directed by Kurt Sutter, executive producer of FX's The Shield, and produced by John Wells, Fred Weintraub and Paul Heller. As reported by Variety, the remake will be a noir-style, “contemporized drama about a lone FBI agent who pursues a rogue Shaolin monk into the bloody world of underground martial arts fight clubs. The original film starred Lee as a martial artist who's drafted by law enforcement to participate in a martial arts tournament and infiltrate a drug smuggling operation run from the host's heavily guarded island. --Michael Lom

Nicole, Ga-In, Hyuna and Minzy Inkigayo Dance Battle

samlet in K-Pop | 16 Aug 2009 - 04:12 AM

On December 29th, 2008, SBS presented an all-male K-Pop dancing showcase on it's annual Gayo Daejun, featuring five of the best idol dancers of this K-Pop era. Now, nearly eight months later, on SBS Inkigayo, it's the ladies' turn. KARA's Nicole, Brown Eyed Girls' Ga-in, 4minute's Hyuna and 2NE1's Minzy took to the stage, duking it out through the age-old medium of dance.

Check out the dancing duel!

Since Inkigayo isn't really anything like So You Think You Can Dance, there's no official winner this time - but what do y'all think? We would like to know!

The dance battle was really great! Too bad SNSD's Hyoyeon did not participate. Special stages are really fun to watch. Hope they do more of this in the future.

Guess who's back in Manila... Sandara!

MANILA - Korean actress and former ABS-CBN talent Sandara Park is back in the Philippines on a short break, amid the phenomenal success of her all-female Korean pop group 2NE1.

Park, now popularly called "Dara", arrived in the country on Thursday morning, August 13. She said she is here to see friends, family, and her fans.

"Na-miss ko kayong lahat. Sobrang happy ako dahil nandito na ako ulit (sa Pilipinas)," Park told ABS-CBN News.

Formerly known as the "Pambansang Krung-Krung", Park admitted that she misses her Filipino friends and fans, one of the main reasons she paid a visit to the Philippines.

The country was where she first launched a successful career in show business and it became her second home for more than 17 years.

"Sobrang saya ko. Na-miss ko sobra ang Pilipinas. Sobrang busy kami sa Korea ngayon sabi ng manager namin, sige, vacation muna kami. So ngayon pumunta ako dito. [Bakit dito?] Siyempre second home ko ang Philippines," she said.

Park (or Sandara Bak), who was 8 years old at the time, moved to the Philippines to "seek greener pastures." In 2004, Park shot to fame when she became the first runner-up on ABS-CBN's defunct talent show Star Circle Quest (SCQ).

After appearing in a blitz of endorsements and shows, Park returned to South Korea in 2007 with her mother and siblings to "start a new life."

'I shall return'

Straight from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Park immediately went to ABS-CBN studios as a guest on the morning show "Ruffa & Ai", where she was reunited with her celebrity friends Melissa Ricks, Roxanne Guinoo, and Joross Gamboa.

After her guesting stint, Park spent time chatting with fans on ABS-CBN.com. She shared some of her experiences as one of the vocalists of 2NE1, which has come out with several Asian chart-topping songs like "Fire" and "Lollipop."

She assured all her fans that this will not be her last visit to the Philippines. "Magkikita-kita ulit tayo," she said.

Park is planning to go to the beach with her friends, after which, she is set to go back to South Korea on Saturday, August 15.

She said that YG Entertainment, the Korean company that brought 2NE1 into being, is considering the idea of bringing the rest of the 2NE1 members (Lee Chae Rin, Park Bom, and Gong Min-ji) to the Philippines for a visit.

That's good to hear! She still hasn't forgotten the Philippines. I'm pretty sure a lot of her Filipino fans are happy as well.

SNSD Goodbye Stage on Music Core

Its sad that my first post is about SNSD's goodbye stage on Music Core earlier. It has only been 2 months since they came out with their 2nd mini-album. Anyway, for their goodbye stage, they performed Etude (which was prerecorded earlier at the Carribean Bay water park) and Tell Me Your Wish / Genie. Our girls look very happy on both performance, as they were smiling a lot.

I will surely miss you SNSD. Hope you all come back soon!
